The Sonke Nxumalo Foundation was founded in 2014 with the spirit of Ubuntu as its cornerstone. The foundation hosts Sisonke Games, an annual sports tournament in the rural Eastern Cape as a means of entertainment over the holiday season. While the holidays can be a time of celebration and joy for many, it also can be a period of stress, sadness, and loneliness for others, for various reasons. And this is what inspired the formation of the Sisonke Games. The event has been one to look forward to for the youth, participants and community at large. The growth of this movement over the years has also seen small businesses formed and benefit. The games have grown tremendously from 6 soccer teams participating at the inaugural event to 35 in 2019, 8 netball teams and 65 individuals participating in the 5 & 10km fun runs.

The Foundation is rooted in giving back, serving others and creating opportunities. It's for this reason that we encourage small businesses in and around to partake. Opportunities for entrepreneurs foster local economies, keep money close to home and create gathering places for communities.

The Covid-19 pandemic halted this initiative for a little while due to the adherence to regulations, but we have since resumed.

This year we celebrate ten years of existence. We hope you stay with us on this journey, pledge support and as we spread the spirit of Ubuntu, you are inspired to brighten the corner where you are.
