The Sonke Nxumalo foundation is rooted in family and landscape whereby the founder, spent most of his young years. Making a difference is something that each of our boards members is passionate about and prioritises. The foundation’s main goal is broad-based prosperity for communities in the rural Eastern Cape. Over the coming weeks we will be introducing you to each of our Board Members. They share some of their most personal and deepest thoughts. This is part one of Meet Our Board Members.
Name and Surname: Thamsanqa Siphiwe Mbatha
Where do you come from: I come from Nkoneni Village, near Breamar, South Coast, KZN. I am currently based in Kempton Park, Gauteng.
What do you do: I'm a legal practitioner. I'm a director for the law firm Mbeki Nene Mbatha Incorporated. Our firm is based in Sandton.
Role in the foundation: I'm one of the directors in the Foundation; I assist with scheduling and hosting of Sisonke Games. I'm also actively involved in selecting soccer players for various individual awards.
What is something you want to get better at? I want to give more; I want to increase my philanthropic activities.
Which book impacted your life: The monk who sold his Ferrari - that book has taught me that it is never too late to transform my life for the better. Small action steps can lead to major transformational gains.
What is your message of hope: One act of kindness may be all that is required to change someone's life... it may seem small, do it anyway!
